May 15, 2010 joycepsouth

Went to see mom this afternoon.  She is adjusting okay.  We have asked Vera, the sitter to come again next week.  She really likes Vera and we think she helps to pass the time.  She is an extraordinary care giver and does all mom’s bidding. Mom sounds and looks stronger.  She is a little down however.  I know she was ready to get home, but at least here she is able to see outside and will receive physical therapy to help her regain her strength.

I think part of her being down is that we had a tragedy in our church family.  Our pastor’s twenty-one year old son was killed in a car wreck early Friday morning.  Mom would love to be at home helping our parsonage family.  She dearly loves Allen and Bobbie Jean.  Pray for our parsonage family during this devastating time.

We had a great trip!  Got home from Virginia at 3:00 a.m.  We did Virginia Beach, Naticus Museum in Norfolk, sailed down the river at Norfolk on a Rover where the kids got to hoist sails and tie knots… Went to Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg, as well as stopping by a go cart place to have a little fun mixed in with our travels back into history.  Have a great weekend.

Landmark is in Athens – it is a step down hospital – I think they call it subacute. It is off of Sunset – next to the VFW. (Sunset connects Prince and Oglethorpe) Get off the Jefferson exit from the loop, the travel about 3/4 mile toward hospital (ARMC) turn right on Sunset, then the facility is on the right. Stop by something, she would love to see you. Hope you have had a wonderful birthday.

So sad to hear about death in church family. I know Ruth is in “torment” not being able to do anything about it. Her heart is certainly in the right place.
