I got down here early this morning to relieve Bill.  The good news is that with all the heart test and CT scans done last night everything was great!  No signs of heart problems and no clog in lung.  The old one had even disappeared.  Sooooo her dr. suggests that this is possibly what is going on — her hemoglobin is a little low which is normal after surgery, but it has been stable at about 8.5 which has not been a concern for them.  He said however now that she is more active, that low of a hemoglobin level can just make a person feel drained push make your body work harder to oxygenate the blood.  His suggestion was to give her a couple of units of blood today.  That will throw her INR ?(clotting rate) off so she will have to be in the hospital a little longer to make sure her blood stays thin enough, but at least we do not have to be concerned with moving now before next week.

So what we have surmised is that mom has not been resting because she has been worried about the next step, she is over doing herself, and they are coming in to do something to her every time she gets settled in for a  good rest.

We know this is going to be a long journey.  Thanks for being an important part of it!

The worst place to try and rest is in a hospital! It is impossible with all of the noise and nurses and doctors coming in all the time. Given that your mother is so goal oriented I’m not surprised that she is overdoing it. How about if she tinkers with her goal? Instead of getting home right away her goal could be something more doable in the short term, and then she would have the pleasure of meeting her goals day by day.
