April 26, 2010 joycepsouth

Having a good morning.  She received clear liquids for the first time — drank some broth and apple juice, and  ate some gelatin.  She sat up for over 30 minute, got a bath, then went to bed for a good nap.  One dr. came by decided to complete an ultra sound of legs to make sure there were no blood clots, the surgeon came by and was very pleased with her progress.  His comment was that we will take things very slow.  Clear liquids, then soft diet – must make sure she is getting enough nutrition before leaving the hospital.  Slow progress is progress just the same — Slow and Steady Wins the Race.  I know mom will win this race, even though it has turned into a marathon for her .

Joyce, if anyone can win a marathon, it’s your mom.

    Ruth and Joyce,
Linda and I are thinking about you. We thought you were at home already. Did not know that you were still in the hospital. Linda unable to get on computer so I speak for both. We wish you the best and know that you will conquer it. And you can be “Cattie” any time you like. I hope, Joyce, that you will continue to update the sight. Thank you so much. If we can do anything, please let us know. Lana

Joyce, This is very good news. Hopefully your mother will be willing to take it slow because her body will tell her she needs to. I loved hearing about her dreams – if you can’t be busy in person then be busy in your dreams. Now if she could just dream the winning lottery numbers!

Anne and I leave Atlanta tomorrow,Tuesday morning, for Richmond, Virginia. If the stars line up right,we plan to drop by Athens General Hospital during morning hours to see Ruth. Glad Ron set it up and that someone introduced us to so you can keep us informed easily about Ruth’s condition!
