Recovery – Surgery One

Surgery one went very well. Mom recovered nicely the first two days. She got up, was walking a little. Then on Saturday evening, her heart went into Afib – fast heart rate. They did some test and discovered that there was an ambulism (blood clot) in her lungs. She was then started on blood thinners…. She felt pretty good Monday and Tuesday, her belly was rumbling, she was allowed to eat, but she had no appetite. Wednesday was her birthday and the Dr. ordered her a birthday cake from one of the bakeries downtown. She had a good day – visited with several people who dropped by — Thursday was not as good. Fever developed and so did irregular heart rhythm. Fever continue to rise until after midnight. Friday was an okay day – she walked well and then again fever started to rise got to 103 before we were able to get the temp down, again after midnight. Aunt Libby came to visit. Mom was uncomfortable and very quiet during Friday. Had no appetite said just looking at food made her sick. Started her back on a soft diet. Weekend was horrible. On Saturday was too weak to walk, nauseated during the night on Saturday. Then on Sunday, she was lifeless. Could hardly get up with help whereas she had been getting up by herself. On Monday we wanted something done and drs agreed. Had CT scan Monday.

Hey Joyce, thanks for letting me know about Ruth. I had no trouble getting to this site and it really is a good way to keep everyone informed without having to talk to each person individually. I appreciate you doing this (and Ron for helping set it up)…

Great – I am happy to do this – mom may enjoy reading all this after she recuperates some. It is also a good way to journal for us as well. Just added the final surgery information. if you would like to check it out sometime.–
